WORDPRESS INSTALL OF REDWOOD BASELINE

WORDPRESS INSTALL BASED ON THE SAVED REDWOOD BASELINE

A “baseline” load using the Redwood theme is available to setup a new WordPress site using that theme. It has the characteristics of elangomat.org website. (Actually, it was created as a copy of that website, and material removed for convenience in creating a new website.) For example, the menu is located along the right hand side, which allows for a lengthy menu.

This is much simpler than trying to load the Redwood theme. Getting all of the settings correct is not easy.

First, you must create the website and load WordPress. See just below “Add the Website to GoDaddy Web Hosting Plus”,

Second, you load WordPress into that website.

Third, you load the Redwood Baseline into that site and edit to make it into your new site.

Add the Website to GoDaddy Web Hosting Plus

GoDaddy Customer# 8034027

You should have previously purchased your domain name.

To get to Web Hosting Plus directly:
https://host.godaddy.com/webhosting/cpanel/account/9b8e8e11-40d6-11ef-835d-3417ebe724ff/view
OR via menu: godaddy.com > My Products > Click arrow on left of Web Hosting

To add your new website, click Add Website.

You should add the website without immediately installing WordPress to avoid complications. If it asks you to install WordPress, don’t do it yet.

In the Domain drop-down box, select the domain in question.
Leave the Directory prompt empty.
http://y8o.ed2.mytemp.website/mywebsite.org/
/home/jthjo8t19qaq/public_html/mywebsite.org/
The list of websites in Web Hosting Plus should now include the new one and the website name should not include the prefix “y8o.ed2.mytemp.website”.

If you create a duplicate website you will have to
contact GoDaddy technical support.

Load the Redwood Baseline and Edit to Make It Your New Site

  1. Add the WPVivid backup/restore Plugin
Go to Plugins, click Add, search for “vpvivid”.
    Click on the first match.
    Click Install
    Click Activate
  2. WPVivid [Backup] > Backup & Restore
Scroll down to and click “Upload” tab.
Scroll back down to “Drop files here”.
Drag and drop the REDWOOD_BASELINE backup file from a directory on
    your PC to that box.
It may ask you for a confirmation. You should see a progress indicator.
When finished, scroll down yet again and find the file you uploaded.
Click “Restore” next to the file.
It will ask for confirmation as you are wiping out (replacing) everything.
  3. Upload all of the images and documents that you will need into
    Media > Library > Add
and drag and drop from your PC.
  4. Edit the following:
Appearance > Customize > Site Identity > Site Title, TagLine, and Site Icon.
Appearance > Customize > Site Identity > Logo and Header Settings
Choose “Logo” image (it will appear on the top of every page).
  5. Pages > All Pages
  • If the page name needs changed, use “Quick Edit” to change it.
  • If the page is not needed, use “Trash” to remove it.
  • If the page already has the desired name, leave it unchanged.
  • If you need more pages than are in the baseline, add them later.

6. Appearance > menus
Make sure you have exactly the pages you want in the order that you want them to appear on the menu.

  • If there is a page you want hidden from users, click Trash next to the menu item. This will not remove the page itself.
  • If the pages are in the wrong order, highlight and drag up or
    down until you are satisfied.
  • If you made any changes, click “Save Menu”.
  • If you need more pages later, use this same method later.

7. Pages > All Pages
Highlight each page in turn and click “Edit”.
Edit any and everything (other than the page name, which you already
handled above).
Click “Publish”.
Click “View > View in new Tab” to see the results.
